5 lessons

Here are the top 5 mistakes I made this summer.
The great thing about mistakes,
is that they are turned into LESSONS.
And a lesson in my book, is a lesson learned!!!
1. After buying the Canon 5d in the beginning of the summer,
it took me a while to correctly expose the images
because my new camera and old camera are so different,
especially the lcd screens.
When i underexposed images with my new camera,
the colors wouldnt be true to form, obviously,
so afterwards, i would have to spend alot of time fixing the image!
After practice, i finally learned to expose images perfectly.
As a result, the colors are amazing, and editing is almost not even needed!
2. Dealing with a very large bridal party was daunting….
but it wasnt impossible.
In this example, the Best Man is hidden behind the groom!
I could fit the bridal party within the frame so i should have spaced everyone out,
or simply taking a mini-step to the right would have solved the problem.

3. First Dances can be difficult
because sometimes the dancing room is completely dark,
therefore focusing can be an issue.
Another issue, is if the bride and groom are talking, they can be making weird faces.
Keeping those two issues in mind,
i have learned to take enough First Dancing safe shots, before trying to be fancy or experimental.
4. Thankfully Emily Dennis encouraged me to start shooting ETTL mode
instead of Manual mode, while using flash.
I am now so so so so happy with my reception photos!!!
5. Lastly, i learned to always take the traditional shot first,
before anything else.
end of story.

Learning lessons the hard way is just that,
HARD!!!
But if Life were easy, we wouldnt have to work on ourselves to become better,
and we wouldnt be strong.
All in all- I believe the hard times can break or make a human.
I choose the latter.
