grandpa.

From the outside,
my grandpa was the healthiest of all the grandpas.
As proof,
last week he was helping my uncle build his house,
the day he died.
You would also find him at all sporting events,
whether his grandchildren were playing or not,
rain or shine, 80 degrees or 40 degrees,
he was there.
He and my grandma would often pop in at my mom’s house to visit.
Sometimes I would be running out the door,
or stressing over work
and I know I didn’t give them my attention 100% like I should.
So I know it’s meant to be when the last time they visited us,
I remember telling myself,
“Be in the moment.
Sit down with them and be.in.the.moment.”
I am so grateful that I listened to my intuition that day,
because it was the last time I visited with my grandpa.
This life is so short,
it can end without any warning,
so let’s be in the moment today-
with your children,
parents,
grandparents,
and even strangers.
Because after someone we love is taken from our lives forever,
we remember and treasure
the hugs, the conversations, and the time we spent with each other,
not the $100 or $600 gadget we gave or received
for birthdays or Christmas.

None of us are guaranteed a long life.

“After all of my running,
I am finally coming home.”

Gwyneth Paltrow

“I had a dream last night
That you came to me on silver wings of light
I flew away with you in the painted sky
And I woke up wondering what was real
Is it what you see and touch or what you feel.”
