Part 2} my present

I think people’s main concern with eating organic, whole foods
is the price tag.
But i beg to differ.
here’s why:
when you only buy fruits, vegetables, and a few other things,
you are saving money by not buying the foods that do not fill your stomach:
$3 bag of Cheetos,
$4 box of pop tarts,
$3 bag of candy,
$4 granola bars.
That’s $14 you could spend on organic ingredients for meals,
because the more filling the meals,
naturally, the less snacking you will do.
Additionally,
Malcolm and I skip restaurants because we rather go to the grocery store
and buy $40 worth of fruits and vegetables that will last us about 3-4 days,
instead of spend $40 on one meal.
So by cutting out all the “empty foods” and restaurants,
we are actually saving money!
If you still believe its too costly or too much work,
think of it this way:
living a healthy, natural lifestyle is preventive health.
The real reward is later in life;
small doctor bills and a long, healthy life!
Who doesn’t want that!?

________
Our key ingredients to great tasting vegetables are
1. olive oil
2. minced garlic
3. salt
(Himalayan pink salt is rich in minerals and electrolytes)

The following photos are our meals during the past week.
I posted mostly my meals,
which are animal-free (vegan),
dairy-free,
and gluten-free,
but i also show Malcolm’s meat version of the same meal.

BREAKFAST-

TIP: Eggs would be a great substitute for those that don’t like beets.
TIP: Instead of buying $3-5 Starbuck’s drinks, daily,
I suggest brewing your own coffee to save $$$ (no-brainer).
A $7 bag of beans makes roughly 14 cups of coffee for myself.
That’s 50¢ a cup for Organic coffee!!!
LUNCH AND DINNER-

TIP: Substitute Coconut Milk for water while cooking brown rice!

Malcolm’s amazing salad dressing recipe:

SNACKS-

TIP: We eat a lot of kale, but i dont have any photos to show for it.
Sautéing kale with garlic and salt is a great option,
otherwise baking it in the oven drizzled with salt and oil to make chips is amazing!
DESSERT-

TIP: Begin by eating 55% dark chocolate
and inching your way up to 70 or 85%.
Your taste buds really do change!!
But if you eat ice cream, then 70 or 85% chocolate afterwards,
you wont be satisfied
because the chocolate will taste bitter.
Instead, the chocolate tastes perfect after something salty.
85% chocolate is a health benefit- not a “dessert!”
I occasionally drink Kombucha
or a glass of red wine, but both are a little more pricey,
so its only when i want to “splurge” haha!
Perhaps, i should have posted these health posts during the New Year,
the time of year that resolutions are made,
because for the next week
we will all be filling our stomachs with the most delicious dishes and desserts:)
