Why I Get Nervous When A Client Says

“I only want candid moments.”

Believe me when I say,
I love candid photos more than anything!!!!
But the only problem is that candid moments do not fall 100% on my shoulders.
The client is 50% of the equation and the photographer is the other 50%.
A candid moment cannot happen unless the client puts their guard down
and allows the raw moment to happen,
as if the photographer was not nearby, or in the room.

This is why I believe engagement sessions are so important.
Yes, engagement photos are more “posed” than photos on a wedding day,
but the sole purpose of an engagement shoot is to relax the couple about their apprehensions
of being in front of a camera.
Therefore, when the wedding day arrives, no one is nervous or tense, instead,
relaxed and at ease with being themselves!!!
….And……they now know my camera does not bite : )
