coincidence, not copying.

Yes,
some “photographers” intentionally replicate other photographer’s images,
just as some “artists” intentionally replicate other artists work.
It happens-
it’s obviously not right
but that’s not why im writing this post.
I am writing this post to show that sometimes two images resemble each other
completely by coincidence.
That’s why i believe its not worth losing sleep
every time you come across a similar looking photo as your own.
The following photo is an image I took in June 2011:
This next image is Kate Robinson‘s photo taken this month.
(Kate is a New Zealand photographer.
We have never corresponded
so chances are, she has no idea I exist.)
Comparing these two photos,
they are very similar.
Instinctively, I could start wailing my arms and screaming angry words……
but for what?
Being a wedding photographer,
I know we walk into a church or house
and have to take photos given the environment, decor, and lighting.
In my above photo,
I was blessed to be in a beautiful room with great decor.
That’s why, before wailing my arms and screaming,
I know Kate was also placed in a beautiful room with great decor!!
Additionally,
i believe all photographer’s brains are “wired” similarly!
_________
I sure hope this post was communicated clearly….
I wanted to show an example of two images looking similar from two different photographer’s,
without the need to yell: copy cat!!!
Because sometimes it is coincidental.
(Of course, there are times when its not coincidental.)
Jasmine Star has a great stance on copy cat’s, which i couldnt agree more with.
