finding happiness on a curb…

…don’t worry,
my legs weren’t adorned with fishnet stockings,
nor did I reek of cigarettes.
Is that what modern day hookers even look like?!
I wouldn’t have a clue.
My information of the outside world comes solely from movies haha.
Annnnnyways,
on Monday, Malcolm had an appointment,
and instead of quickly running to a thrift store
or chatting on the phone with my mom or a friend,
I decided to just sit on the curb outside
for an hour.
During that hour of solitude,
I started tearing up,
(that’s right, I started crying on a curb)
because in that moment,
I felt pure happiness.
I had the beautiful sun absorbing into my skin
I had nothing to do,
nowhere to go for that entire afternoon,
and my body is in true health.
I know they sound like silly things to be thankful for,
but in that moment,
I knew my hometown as experiencing a snow storm with negative temperatures,
the rest of my week would be a little hectic,
and many people are experiencing the flu.
I whole-heartily believe in counting blessings,
even the ones that seem so silly,
because the moment we are lying in bed sick,
all we want is to be in complete health…
perhaps sitting on a curb,
with the sun shining,
nothing to do, nowhere to be.
