paparazzi

Each year,
digital cameras are becoming more and more affordable to the average consumer
and the quality of cell phone cameras are getting better, fast!
As a photographer,
it’s easy to notice the new trend on a wedding aisle:
paparazzi central!
(I keep forgetting to ask my bride’s if they have noticed this
and if it felt like they were on the red carpet in Hollywood haha)
Each photographer has their own opinion about guest photography.
My personal stance is this:
a bride and groom typically spend a lot of energy
finding a photographer that they both love
and who they feel can capture their most important day
in the best way possible.
So out of respect to the bride and groom,
I suggest all guests with their personal cameras,
to be mindful and respectful of the hired photographer.
I have had some pretty interesting people bark at me
after nicely asking them to move into their seat a little more rather than on the main aisle.
I don’t let it bother me because I am doing my job,
but I just wish some people understood that
by respecting the hired photographer,
you are also respecting the bride and groom.
Here are two examples of images that I captured,
with the second image showing the effect from a guest’s flash.
