random: recent sessions and tips about ombre hair

I had a fabulous engagement session this week with Matt and Jamie,
another couple i had the honor of meeting down here in Indiana.

Later, after their session when i was going to bed,
I caught myself wishing it was morning already so i could work all day!!
That’s when i realized how much i love my career;
I act like the next day is Christmas morning,
wishing the night would zip by:)

Matt and Jamie have amazing voices,
i’m hoping to showcase the amazingness in their engagement video!

Tomorrow
i will finally post the entirety of this Chicago engagement session!!
i have only shown peeks up until this point…..
so here’s yet another peek haha:)

I had a few requests to share the details of my home Ombre hair-dying experience…
so i’ll start with the trick:
I just winged it.

I told myself if it turns out grey or copper or green,
i could just dye it back to brown,
or worse comes to worse, shave my head.
But that’s actually not a bad thing, my dream is to shave my head,
seriously.
the only problem lies with my oddly shaped head.

My hair was already a little bit ombre,
the ends were a few shades lighter than my roots.
I havent died my roots in a long time, so its my natural hair color and i’m happy with it
so i didn’t apply any dark dye to the top of my head
to make my roots darker (like some do).
I just bought a highlighting kit to apply to the bottom half of my hair,
which has been dyed numerous times in the past.
If you will be applying dye to already dyed hair you have to buy a highlighting kit,
normal blonde hair dye won’t work!
Blonde hair dye will only work on natural, non-dyed hair.
Then i put gloves on and painted it on with my fingers to all of my hair from the chin down.
I put it on the thickest at the ends because i was going for a dramatic look.
Since my hair was already ombre, naturally the ends would turn out the brightest blonde
and the mid section of the hair would turn a light brown/dirty blonde.
If your hair is all one shade, you may have to apply dye to the ends first,
let it sit for a few minutes, then apply to the mid-section last,
because you want the ends to be the lightest.
I didn’t do a strand test (oops) so i kept checking my hair every 5 minutes.
About 15 minutes after i put the dye in,
i rinsed it all out, then realized it still wasnt dramatic enough,
so i reapplied the dye and let it sit another 25 minutes.
By this time, the ends of my hair were bright blonde
and i didn’t want my hair to become too brittle and fall off
so i washed it out and it was exactly how i wanted it!
I hope that helps!
